With summer just around the corner, many are already planning their getaways. But for those staying in the city, this urban oasis is the perfect solution for hot days.
Located in San Dimas, Raging Waters is the largest water park in the state. It officially opened for the season on May 10, announcing its return on social media with a splash!
What makes Raging Waters the state’s biggest water park
This water park holds the title of the largest in California and ranks among the biggest in the country. Spanning more than 60 acres, Raging Waters packs in 50+ attractions for all ages, from Aqua Rocket (the state’s only hydromagnetic water coaster) to High Extreme, featuring two 600-foot speed slides that hit up to 35 mph, and Bombs Away, a twin-drop slide tower built for pure adrenaline.

But the park is not only a safe haven for thrill seekers, as once you’ve had your fill of high-speed needs, there’s a slower rhythm waiting: tube and body slides of all kinds, a 30,000-square-foot water playground, a million-gallon wave pool, and a lazy river made for drifting the afternoon away.
Aqua Rocket: a hydromagnetic water coaster like no other
The Aqua Rocket sends inflatable rafts carrying 2 to 4 riders on a fast, splash-heavy water coaster journey, starting with a conveyor lift that carries you 55 feet up in the air. From there, rafts drop, surge, and twist through a mix of open-air and enclosed sections, powered by both gravity and magnetic propulsion, before finishing in a big splashdown.
Unlike traditional water slides that depend only on gravity, Aqua Rocket uses linear induction motors to push rafts both downhill and uphill. These “rocket incline zones” create the unusual sensation of being pulled upward on water, constantly shifting speed and direction to mimic the unpredictable rhythm of a roller coaster. It’s also the only hydromagnetic water coaster of its kind in the state.
