Los Angeles is no stranger to unconventional events and a growing food scene, but this new format is certainly pushing boundaries, turning what could be just another race into a tasting route.
At the L.A. Food Run, a brand-new 13.1-mile event, participants don’t race straight to the finish line: instead, they make scheduled stops along the way to sample dishes from some of the city’s most sought-after kitchens.
The route passes through neighborhoods such as Highland Park, Echo Park, and Silver Lake, with stops at well-known local spots serving everything from bagels and pizza to seafood. The food is included along the way, and the format removes the usual wait times associated with popular restaurants.
How the L.A. Food Run works
The event follows a social, non-competitive format, with pace groups designed to make the distance accessible to runners of all levels. Rather than focusing on finish times or prizes, the emphasis is on sharing a experience and exploring the city through its food scene.
Participation is free, but entry is limited and determined by a lottery system where just 100 participants will be selected. The lucky “runners” will be organized into three waves based on pace: advanced, intermediate, and beginner.
Spots are awarded in pairs, encouraging participants to enter with a partner. Registration closes on May 6, 2026, at 11:59 PM, and selected participants will be announced the following day, May 7, 2026.
