The World Culinary Awards just held their 5th annual award ceremony in Dubai, and Los Angeles was recognized for major culinary excellence. L.A. was named North America’s Best Culinary City Destination for 2024. But of course, Angelenos already know that we’re living in the best culinary city in the world.
A World Class Achievement
The World Culinary Awards “serves to celebrate and reward excellence in the culinary industry” through their annual awards program. Receiving a World Culinary Award is a “world-class achievement.” And L.A.’s achievement is well deserved.
Best Culinary City Nominees
It’s an especially distinguished achievement when you consider the other outstanding culinary cities that were nominated this year for this award as well. North America’s Best Culinary City Destination 2024 Nominees include the following:
- Chicago (U.S.A.)
- Montréal (Canada)
- New York City (U.S.A.)
- San Francisco (U.S.A.)
- Toronto (Canada)
- Vancouver (Canada)
L.A. Eats Well
Obviously, all of Los Angeles knows that we have an amazing culinary scene. From simple food trucks to fancy Michelin-starred restaurants, you can find a delicious bite all over the city at any time of the day. There are so many gorgeous restaurants perfect for a romantic date night. Plus, the diversity of Angelenos lends itself to some delectable meals that are distinctively L.A. in flavor. The fusion cuisine in Los Angeles is top-notch, like Asian-inspired pizza or Korean BBQ tacos.
A Taste of the World
And of course, L.A. has a plethora of appetizing Mexican food from tasty taco trucks to a Michelin-starred Mexican marisquería. Plus, Angelenos have the privilege of eating some of the best Korean food, Japanese food, and Chinese food outside of their respective countries. And there’s always a well-spiced taste of Middle Eastern cuisine and Mediterranean food. Once the sun goes down, there’s even more tempting munchies to be found at L.A.’s famous night markets. There’s a reason why Los Angeles was one of Anthony Bourdain’s favorite food cities.
The Best of the Best
Furthermore, Los Angeles is home to the 8th best pizzeria in the United States. And it’s home to the 9th best burger in the entire world. Plus, L.A.’s legendary bacon-wrapped hot dogs can’t be beat. Even better, L.A. has introduced the world to some of the best fast food of all time. And as if all that wasn’t enough, L.A. is the birthplace of the world’s first gourmet chain food festival, the deliciously kooky ChainFEST. Obviously, Los Angeles eats well 24/7.
