You’ll be able to watch World Cup knockout games with a lake breeze in your face and the country’s biggest public pool just a short walk away. This summer, Hansen Dam is turning into the rare place where a full-on soccer fan zone and a massive summer swim day collide in one spot — and it might be the most chaotic, fun way to watch a match anywhere in L.A.
A FIFA fan zone next to the biggest pool in the U.S.
Right next to the lake, Hansen Dam Aquatic Center is home to a 1.5-acre swimming lagoon that holds the title of largest public pool in the United States. It’s basically an inland beach day: sandy shoreline, water slides, lifeguards everywhere, and cheap tickets. Now imagine dropping a World Cup fan zone right next to that.
From July 2 to 5, one of FIFA’s official World Cup 26 Fan Zones will set up at Hansen Dam Lake, bringing giant screens, live music, food, and a beer garden to the park. It’s part of a citywide plan that spans 39 days and 10 fan zones.
