The Fourth of July is the quintessential American summer holiday. It is a day where the entire city looks for the perfect place to lay down a blanket, dance to live music, and watch the sky ignite. If you are looking for the perfect event to experience that electric energy this year, look no further than Gloria Molina Grand Park’s Summer Block Party. Billed as the West Coast’s largest free Fourth of July celebration, this massive Downtown L.A. event brings together thousands of Angelenos for an unforgettable evening of global music, interactive art, food, and a drone-art show.
The sound of Gloria Molina Grand Park’s Summer Block Party
The block party spans two stages designed to reflect the multicultural DNA of Los Angeles.
- The Backyard Stage: Hosted by longtime L.A. broadcaster Anthony Valadez, this stage features live music from Tatiana Tate — a trumpeter blending jazz, funk, soul, and hip-hop —and the West African and Afro-Caribbean rhythms of the L.A. Tropifunk Collective.
- The Front Yard Stage: This stage is taken over by Pangea Sound, a DJ collective fusing beats from the Caribbean, Africa, and Latin America.
What you can expect in the ultimate DTLA Experience
Whether you come for the music, the food, or the breathtaking final show, the block party has been created to be an immersive playground for everybody. Here are some of the things that you can expect:
- Grab a bite from LA’s finest: With local food trucks and Snack Alley vendors, come hungry and ready to taste the diverse flavors of Los Angeles.
- Dance and create: The celebration spans across six closed city blocks in the heart of DTLA, giving you plenty of space to explore the interactive art and soak up the community vibes.
- Look up to the sky: Close out the night under a beautiful 3D drone light show, which will paint the DTLA sky with 700 illuminated drones.
