Spooky season in Los Angeles comes with no shortage of ways to celebrate, from elaborate costumes and haunted houses to horror movie marathons, Halloween parties, and themed races.
But if you’re looking for something that goes beyond trick-or-treating, dressing up, or watching another slasher from the couch, there’s a rather unusual option waiting behind a hidden door in the heart of the city.
The Obscure is getting a darker twist for Halloween

The Obscure, a distillery and cocktail tasting experience that has already attracted more than 100,000 guests since its opening, is bringing back its Halloween edition, Devil’s Quarter, for select Fridays and Saturdays throughout October, including Halloween night.
The two-hour experience takes place inside the venue’s custom-built, candlelit environment, where faux ruins, waterfalls, and shadowy corners create a setting that feels considerably removed from the surrounding Arts District.
Rather than simply ordering a themed drink at a Halloween pop-up, guests sit down for a guided tasting built around six pours: three spirits distilled in-house and three original cocktails. The drinks are presented alongside storytelling and live artistic elements, with Devil’s Quarter adding three darker stories to the evening.

The experience is designed to unfold gradually, with hosts introducing the drinks and their inspirations as the night progresses. The result is somewhere between a cocktail tasting, a theatrical performance, and a very unique night at the bar.
For those who want to keep the evening going, food is available separately at The Rising Sun, the Southern-inspired outdoor café located onsite. The tasting itself is indoors, and all-black attire is encouraged if you want to blend into the atmosphere.
