From Taiwan to NYC, and now finally, Los Angeles!
You’ve probably spotted this photogenic boba drink on Instagram and sulked at the fact that your only shot to get your hands on one of these bad boys would mean taking a trip to the big apple. Welp, sulk no more! The photo-ready, syrup-streaked milk teas have made their way to the big city, just 25 miles east of DTLA.
You’ll have to head to Rowland Heights to hit up the Taiwanese-originated milk tea shop, but by the looks of the pictures on the ‘gram – it’ll sooooo be worth it. The menu will consist of just over a dozen drinks that will feature various combinations of brown sugar syrup, milk, cream, and tapioca pearls. We can say we would be surprised if people just flocked to Tiger Sugar just for their famous ‘tiger stripes’ that the brown sugar creates inside of the cup.
Whether you choose to spend your time snapping pics or guzzling down this unique beverage, be sure to truly savor all its golden greatness. A representative for the company name K. Leung says that the cooking process for the tapioca (boba balls) takes at least three hours! “The larger boba is very chewy and absorbs the aroma and taste of the sugar, while the smaller boba has a smooth texture.”
