As temperatures continue to rise, many Angelenos look for a summer escape by heading to the coast in search of the perfect waves and a sun-kissed glow, while others retreat to the mountains for cooler air beneath the shade of towering trees. But for those who want a little bit of everything, with a serious dose of adrenaline, water parks offer the perfect middle ground.
And not just any water park. L.A. County is home to the largest inflatable water park in the region, located just about an hour from the city. Even better, the recently reopened attraction is about to add new obstacles to its already impressive lineup of 45 floating challenges.
According to a recent announcement shared on its social media channels, and after hundreds of votes from visitors, the next additions to the obstacle course will include a zipline, a hamster wheel, and a climbing wall.

Before the giant inflatable slides and floating obstacles take over, there’s Castaic Lake itself, a massive SoCal escape that offers plenty of room to cool down. The largest reservoir in L.A. County, this 12,000-acre recreation area is split into two sections, each with its own personality.
The Upper Lake is where visitors go for more fast-paced adventures, from boating and jet skiing to sailing along miles of scenic shoreline. Meanwhile, the Castaic Lagoon offers a more relaxed atmosphere, with calmer waters perfect for swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding.
And the fun doesn’t stop when you leave the water. The surrounding recreation area is filled with open space, hiking trails, and mountain biking routes, making it an easy spot to turn a splash-filled day into a full outdoor getaway.
